In my work, I explore the world from above, presenting diverse scenes of contemporary life through an aerial view that transforms familiar spaces into captivating abstract compositions. The flattened planes capture a tactile sense of place, blending textures with a keen eye for color and form. Looking down from city skyscrapers or soaring in helicopters, I depict urban sprawls, factories, rural fields, suburban grids, and winding highways in a way that unveils structures we often overlook.
This elevated perspective offers a refreshed visual language, where simplified shapes and bold graphics convey the character of each location. My paintings go beyond mere documentation; they reinterpret landscapes through a mix of abstraction and recognizable form, weaving grids and patterns with layers of observation, memory, and invention. From bustling cities to quiet countrysides, each scene reflects the intersection of human and natural worlds, as well as the balance of industry and leisure, agriculture and development.
My silk-screen prints echo these themes in a compact format, employing a blend of digital and hand-drawn serigraphy techniques. These works carry my approach into a different medium, yet retain the multicolored vibrancy and conceptual focus of my larger paintings.
In my food series, I take a similar approach, zooming in on familiar shapes and colors from an overhead angle that plays with proportion and scale. The larger-than-life depictions elevate everyday items, capturing an unexpected view that is both fresh and familiar.
The figurative collection offers a nostalgic glimpse into family memories, inspired by old photos and contemporary moments alike. These stylized portraits explore enduring human dreams and emotions, providing glimpses into their stories while leaving space for viewers to imagine.
Through it all, my art is a fusion of perspective and a deep understanding of color and composition, creating pieces that are engaging both in their aesthetic and narrative layers. Every aspect of my work is driven by a desire to capture the rhythm and diversity of the environments we inhabit. I find that viewing life from above reveals connections and patterns that are otherwise hidden, uncovering the relationships between urban development and natural landscapes, or between agriculture and industry. These connections are explored through color and form, guiding the viewer's eye across the composition in a way that feels intuitive yet complex.
In my process, I often experiment with different mediums and techniques to enhance this layered storytelling. For example, the silk-screen prints allow for a precise control of color and texture, translating my ideas into a smaller format while maintaining the same sense of depth and dimensionality. My food series and figurative works further this exploration by focusing on the everyday in unexpected ways, turning ordinary subjects into statements on human nature and our connection to place. Altogether, my work is a meditation on perspective—on how shifting our view can change what we see.
